Electronic cars? Good to go?

Newly passed drivers license? Check. Read to take on the worlds roads in a heartbeat? Check. Driving a smart car fit for the future? Well, possibly. Could we be seeing the inevitable change from petrol powered cards into electronic cars? The brand new e-Up from Volkswagen seems to suggest so.

Before we get down to the nitty gritty of the car, lets take a look at driving in general. Gone are the days of driving around in clunky beaten up road vehicles with no tax, no insurance, getting by on a whim – nowadays drivers are smart, cars are smart, and the world is smart.

Could we soon see a future of carbon safe cars running the roads? After passing your test, picking your car, buying car insurance whether it be from confused, Express Insurance or another reputable brand, why don’t you take to the roads in an electronic car and lead the way in a new breed of intelligent cars driven by an environmentally aware generation.

So, what makes electronic cars such a great idea today?

The new e-Up from Volkswagen not only drives great, looks great, it also puts a great feeling into one place that is sure to put a smile on most men’s face – the wallet. The Up boasts a driving range of 99 miles before needing to be charged again, the cost of charging up the car to run for 99 miles? £2.80. Now, we are no mathematicians, but we reckon that’s pretty good mileage for the everyday driver.

Another sign that e-cars are certainly on the agenda for the future? Well, you see that little iPhone in your pocket? See that Apple brand – well, rumours out of San Francisco are circulating that Apple are ready to make their own move into the electronic car market in the near distant future. Leading their innovation drive at the forefront of technology, Apple recently announced deals with BMW, Mercedes, and Honda to produce smart dashboards – could we soon see the worlds first iOS powered electronic car? Only time will tell but we certainly wouldn’t bet against Apple.

The only drawback against the e-car today? Well, the price will certainly turn a fair few people away. Priced just shy of £20,000, the e-Up definitely has a fight to convince the general public, but the stepping stones are in place.

In a world where petrol is running out, climates are warming, and the environment is becoming an ever increasing important topic – we just might be seeing a lot more of the e-car in the future. We would certainly hope so – we think the e-car is a great idea.

There is no point having a safe car if we don’t have a safe world, so lets see what impact the e-car has on the market over the next ten years, with giants like Apple, Volkswagen, BMW, and more all getting behind the idea, we predict a bright future for the electronically powered vehicles. After the inevitable breakages in cable chargers for your iPhone, lets just hope Apple are not providing the cable chargers though.
