Best Value Smartphones Of 2013

Every year seems to be a golden year for the smartphone. Since its notable rise in the late 2000s, we’re continually seeing more features, faster processors and most importantly more bang for your buck. 2013 has been no different.

It’s been a great year for the smartphone with some brilliant technology entering the market at better and better value. We take a look at the top five reasonably priced smartphones.

Sony Xperia L

One of the first handsets from the post-Sony Ericsson era, the Xperia L is by far one of the best value dual-core Android devices on the market and comes with a range of excellent features. Always good for games, the Sony is as adept with playing the action-packed Real Racing 3 in HD, as well as the mobile casino games and apps at Royal Vegas. With an imperious 3D surround sound it is almost a premium phone at an impressive £199.00 price tag.

HTC Desire 500

This phone is a little like David Beckham. Great to look at but not an awful lot going on inside. It’s compact, light and has a vibrant backdrop of colour. Its 5 mega-pixel camera is great for taking pictures on the go and its smart, simple layout is perfect for first-time users. Integrating Beats Audio is a major draw to this model and at £129.99 on Pay As You Go, it’s not badly priced either.

Motorola Moto G

It seems a shame not many phones have detachable back panels anymore. The Moto G resurrects this feature to bring the personal touch back to your smartphone. Priced at around £120, the 4.5-inch HD display is complimented by Android Jelly Bean, whilst also offering a number of features only usually found on high-end devices including 50GB of free storage on Google Drive.

Nokia Lumia 520

This smartphone is sleek, sharp and priced at £80, an absolute bargain. On release it quickly became Windows Phone’s most popular device and it’s no wonder. Boasting Windows 8, the phone has more features than the Xperia and comes in either white or blue. A large display makes everything clear and concise whilst built in digital lenses make this one of the best cameras on the market.

Samsung Galaxy S4

Priced slightly higher on Pay As You Go than the previously mentioned devices, the Galaxy S4 does offer good deals at around the £30 per month mark, but is easily the most superior device on this list. One of the lightest and most sophisticated Samsung devices, the Galaxy has a 1.9GHz Quad-Core Processor and a glorious HD widescreen ideal for watching and recording video, whilst its all-round navigational style certainly makes it a really worthwhile device.
